Sub Rosa Plantation, circa 1849, in Pocahontas, Mississippi, with its stately magnolia, cedar, and Cyprus trees was the lovely setting for the early evening ceremony uniting Mary Lacy Montgomery and Benjamin Webb Sabin in marriage on June 27, 2015. The officiating minister was Dr. James R. Young III, Germantown, Tennessee.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Percy Montgomery of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fredric James Dickey of Magee, Mississippi, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Percival Montgomery of Pickens, Mississippi. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Cocke Sabin of Bay Saint Louis, formerly of Greenwood, Mississippi. He is the grandson of Mrs. Aubrey Ethan Adams, the late Mr. Adams of Carthage, Mississippi and the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kirby Sabin Sr. of Greenwood.
Emily Koerber Montgomery, sister-in-law of the bride, served as matron of honor. Attendants included Kristen McMullan Brown, Margaret Hodges Curtis, Edwina Griswold Fitch, Claire Hust Harrison, Katherine Louise Howie, cousin of the bride, Nancy Zyska Kurdyla and Marlana Melton Walters. The junior attendant was Lillian Claire Montgomery, niece of the bride. Flower girls were Lacy Gray Montgomery, niece of the bride, and Elizabeth Kay Sabin, niece of the groom. Readers were Rachel Huff Mitchell and Amy Turnipseed Swayze.
John Cocke Sabin, father of the groom, served as the best man. Groomsmen included Thomas Gray Montgomery, brother of the bride, John Cocke Sabin Jr., Reid Austin Sabin, brothers of the groom, and Claude Brennan Sanders.
Joyful Praise of Jackson State University, the acappella vocal singing group, provided the gospel music for the outdoor ceremony. The bride chose such classic favorites as “Amazing Grace,” “Blessed Assurance,” and “The Lord’s Prayer” with the bride and her father entering to “Sing Hallelujah.”
Guests were greeted to the celebration of marriage by Julie Corts Burks, Jennifer Gianola Robinson, Drs. Azar, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Milton Cornett, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Michael Hederman III, Mr. and Mrs. Robert McKinley Holliman, Dr. and Mrs. Charles Troy Morrissette, and Mr. and Mrs. William Kirk Ray.
A reception, hosted by the parents of the bride, was held on the beautiful grounds of Sub Rosa Plantation with soft lighting and floral arrangements in shades of ivory, peach and pink complementing the historic Southern setting. Every aspect of the day was filled with Mary Lacy and Webb’s love for an outdoor, Southern, classic and elegant setting. Guests enjoyed delicious food by Fresh Cut Catering and Floral and danced the night away to Chris Gill and the Soul Shakers.
After a honeymoon trip to The British Virgin Islands, the couple is at home in Germantown, Tennessee.
