For nearly a century, the rich land that makes up Circle M Plantation has helped create a hunting heritage in Eastern Mississippi. In the early 1920s, governor of Oklahoma, E.W. Marland, embarked on a bear-hunting trip on the Noxubee River and soon after, purchased his own patch of rich hunting land at Circle M Plantation. The storied piece of property has been home to much bird and game hunting success throughout the years. The presidents of General Mills, Archer-Daniels and Weyerhauser purchased the land later in the century specifically for its reputation for unmatched quail hunting. In fact, it was the success in hunting Bobwhite quail that helped Circle M make a name for itself as one of the region’s finest hunting destinations.
In 2005, the plantation was purchased by Birmingham businessman James S.M. (Jamie) French, an avid hunter who had visited Circle M many times before making it his own. French bought Circle M for his children and grandchildren to enjoy.
The owners of Circle M Plantation’s much-loved shooting grounds have set out to share what makes the place so special, offering opportunities for the public to experience the property’s lush atmosphere, comfy accommodations, delectable Southern fare, and some of the area’s best quail, turkey and white tail deer hunting.
