For downtown Jackson, Mississippi, no word echoes more than “renaissance.” Restaurants, retail and businesses have been pushing downtown into a full-blown comeback. The feather in the cap of the revival is coming to fruition late this summer with the opening of The Westin Jackson, complete with 12,000 square feet of meeting space and 203 lush guest rooms and suites.
Located in the heart of downtown on South Congress Street, conveniently within walking distance to the Jackson Convention Center, The Westin Jackson will serve as the brand’s debut in the Magnolia State. Also by foot, guests can venture through downtown to the Mississippi Museum of Art, historic music and arts theatre Thalia Mara Hall, the Russell C. Davis Planetarium, and an array of local restaurants, bars and shops.
On site, guests and visitors can indulge at The Westin Jackson’s state-of-the-art spa or enjoy a bite and beverage at Estelle Wine Bar and Bistro. Here, Southern charm melds with European influences, introducing a fresh new concept to the city’s dining scene. A café bar by day, Estelle will transform into a nighttime hot spot, luring guests with a vibrant atmosphere in the wine bar and lounge or some fresh air on the spacious patio. Estelle’s eclectic beverage program will feature sought-after craft spirits, vermouths and specialty hand-crafted cocktails.
Wischermann Partners recently named Mike Burton, who brings over 20 years of hospitality experience to the table, as The Westin Jackson’s General Manager. Burton is charged with overseeing the hotel and helping to reinforce The Westin Jackson’s mission to boost travel and tourism in downtown Jackson. “There isn’t a better person than Mike Burton to lead our new property in Jackson,” said Paul Wischermann, President and CEO of Wischermann Partners. “With his experience and longevity within the Westin Hotels and Resorts brand, Burton will lead the new Jackson team to ensure every guest’s stay is memorable and thoughtful.”
